Not sure if I should be worried about GSHV1. Please Help.

About a year ago I got what I think might have been a cold-sore (I'm not sure if it even was a cold-sore). At first I didn't even think that it was a cold-sore so I had been playing with it and had popped it etc. A while after I was playing with myself down there and am worried that I may have auto-inoculated myself. I never had any blisters or any symptoms noticeable to the eye. I called my gynecologist who told me not to worry. I began to get an odd tingling sensation in my lower legs that was at times all over my body. Additionally, I was a bit itchy down there and sensitive. My gynecologist still told me not to worry. 4 months later I had an IGG test for HSV-1 and HSV-2, both came back negative so I relaxed a bit until recently. First I started to feel tingling on the place on my lip where I felt that I had gotten the original coldsore, I applied abreva and it never turned into a blister. Even more worrisome I am know experiencing the tingling that I had last year following the potential exposure to HSV-1. It has been accompanied by some slight redness. Sometimes the tingling is in other areas besides just my legs and feet, for example it is also in my butt/ groin area. I am also a bit itchy down there but nothing else is out of the ordinary. I went to a healthcare provider today and expressed my concern and she looked at me down there and said everything looked fine just a little irritated. Should I be worried about having GHSV-1? Do you think that I have it? Everyone that I have talked to has brushed me off or laughed at me and not taken me seriously but I cannot find any other explanation for my symptoms and it is driving me crazy. Is this all in my head?

it's not likely you would've transmitted hsv1 from your lip area to the genital area and not had obvious and painful symptoms. Just tingling isn't likely to be due to herpes at all.

continue to follow up with your provider for your symptoms as needed. next time you think you have a cold sore, apply nothing to it and be seen promptly for a lesion culture to confirm your status for hsv1 orally.

Thought I'd provide a bit more info: prior to having the first "cold-sore" which was one sore that was very small and tingled a bit, located on up my upper lip (you could barely even see it) I had no history of cold-sores or herpes and was a virgin. Also, I am female. The tingling tends to be worse when I stress about it and is barely noticeable when I am otherwise occupied. The tingling is predominantly in the backs of my thighs and knees but I have had it pretty much everywhere at one point or another. Had it for a couple of months after I first started worrying about contracting HSV-1. Also am wondering if I should get another blood test.
