Possible Herpes

Here's the time line...

Day ONE  unprotected sex
DAY THREE vaginal burning
DAY FOUR:  vaginal burning tried Monostat and it made it worse,that evening about 3 hours later went to urgent care and they tested for yeast and BV both negative and urine sample also negative. slight irritation rash but no know bumps/anything else given Diflucan (150mg) and sent on my way.
DAY FIVE slight "diaper rash feeling" tingling and paper cut like feelings
DAY SIX minimal "tingling"
DAY SEVEN :  NOTHING
DAY EIGHT:  NOTHING went to visit OBGYN explained my symptoms and he said that he woudn't be surprised IF if wasn't herpes but gave 30 day rx for Valtrex and said that we could do blood work in June ---I immediately took the Valtrex and have been taking it daily.

Now that last few days I have been experiencing "symptoms" on and off throughout the day. Burning vagina, "heat" feeling on my thighs these symptoms only last about 10 minutes and then are gone. I am just worrying myself sick or is this "classic" mild outbreak? In addition I have not experienced ANY other symptoms...no flu, no bumps I honestly would have thought that after all my reading I would have experienced a severe outbreak after the day of a burning vagina.Wondering if anyone else has had this? In addition, I did change my birth control about 30 days prior could this all be hormonal changes and my anxiety getting the best of me?!?!?!?

So far everyone says no herpes. I wake up every morning with a warm flushed feeling on my face. My body is obviously fighting something. I just wish I could feel normal. Mind, body and spirit. This is one of the most tryint times to try an cope with.

Do you think I am have herpes?

don't use tampons during your period if you have vaginitis.  you can still treat for bv too while you have your period.

you can follow up with an opthamologist for testing for herpes in the eye. it's an easy peasy test.

Another quick question, this is regarding ocular herpes. I have been having swollen eyes through the night. I wake up and my eyes are almost swollen shut and then after a few hours all the "water retention" and swelling goes down, is it possible that would be the case? I have seen my eye dr regarding this twice. 1st time he gave me eye drops and said the irritation could be from crying and wiping my eyes so much. I quit doing that and then today I woke up and have never seen anything like it before. HUGE SWOLLEN eyes. I went to see my eye dr on urgent care basis. He advised that there seems to irritation deep in the eye and put my on an eye drop that includes steroids and antibiotics. Have you ever heard of such symptoms with ocular herpes? I have absolutely no eye pain, no redness, no feeling of an object inside my eye. Just wondering if you have heard of similar symptoms. I am using the medication that was given but I have read that steroids makes herpes worse...In addition, could have PHN? I still have all this on and off burning. Is it common of herpes to have one day of vaginal burning, then one day of nothing, then one day of groin pain, then back to the burning. Maybe I am just stressing about this too much??? I honestly just wish that IF this was herpes there would be something to test NOW and not have to wait in limbo. I am don't even EVER want to have sex again ( I think everyone says that) lol

Yeah, I am at a loss right now. I too, have "my time" so the BV treatment is on stand still I guess. I don't really have any "symptoms" today except when I am sitting down. I have quit ALL medications including birthcontrol so I will see how the next week goes. Although, I have noticed a change in my "flow" so I have no idea if this all is just my birth control playing games with me and my hormones?!?! I even went to the eye dr because I thought I had occular herpes as well. I am just a mess it's unreal. I thought I had more "fight" and self control over emotions. I think this may turn into a mental health issue as well. I am about to lose it.

I know how you feel, I just want to feel normal down there again too. I had a few days that I just had a little discomfort, now today my clitoris starts itching and I see this small red "Dot" on it. I just can't figure out what it is. I wonder if it herpes in the clitoris. I was supposed to go to the doctor this week, now I got my period and she is on vacation next week so now I have to wait two weeks. This is going in 4 months now, I have had it! Glad we can vent together...

I am still having symptoms even tho I am taking the medication and have actually  This week, I have had groin pain, some irritation
I guess I will stop the Valtrex since it isn't working anyways and I have symtoms on and off through the day. At this point I just don't know what to do besides wait it out. I am sick of going to the Dr. and there not being any answers. (besides herpes, which is my diagnosis ) and my body seems to be horrible at keeping it at bay. I just want to feel normal again. I don't even care whether it's herpes or not. I just want a normal vagina that I don't think about!!!

I don't recommend taking the valtrex at all. you don't want to prolong how long you have to wait for your testing.

Not sure, from what I read these are not typical symptoms. It is confusing because they say most people don't know they have it because symptoms are so mild but yet some symptoms like we are experiencing are not typical. I am the same as you, trying to prepare myself but still praying everyday it is not herpes. I will pray for you as we'll. As they told me at the doctor, give the medication time to work but I know how you want to feel, instant relief. I go to the doctor again this week to see why my symptoms are coming back but I will have to postpone due to my period. I went out and bought flora probiotic pills today. Expensive but I am willing to try anythingz. Keep us posted.

They did a swab and said BV and gave me clindamycin for 7 days at night. I still get on and off "burning" and a "heat" sensation on my thighs. I am just starting to mentally prepare myself herpes. There really is no other answer. I quit my birth control to see if that would help and I started the Valtrex again but my symptoms aren't really getting better. Just keep coming and going. Is it typical of herpes symptoms the "burning" to keep coming and going throughout the day?


One a side note, I really appreciate you do for everyone here. It is comforting that you dedicate your day to answering question when people make mistake. You truly are an angel here on earth and it is comforting to have a place like this to go to for help. Thank You!

Going either week of 3/18 or 3/25, that will be 15-16 weeks. I am so scared. Yesterday was a good day, not touch irritation down there at all. Not once yesterday did my clitoris bother me now today I got my period and it is driving me crazy down there. Just do not understand why it is good then bad. What did they put you on for 7 days? All 3 antibiotics I had have been for 7 days. 5 was the longest.

did they do testing for bv that they are treating you for it?  pretty easy to take a swab of your cervix and look at it under the microscope in the office or do some bedside testing for vaginitis with the swab to know.

went to the Dr. today, treated for BV I think they just use that as an excuse because they don't know. So I'm going to go through the 7 day inserts and see what happens. I haven't any "symptoms" today beside what my mind is making up.

Grace I just one more quick question and then I am done. Sorry. In thinking about my past medical history I know that I have had UTI symptoms really bad to the point I went to urgent care but all tests also came back negative. I was wondering (since reading so much) could that have been herpes as well? Basically, my question is, Can herpes present itself in different ways each time? Like 2 years ago my undiagnosed UTI was herpes and now a few years later it is presented itself this way?

These are the same symptoms I have, a persistant burning feeling. This has been going on for 3 months . I was diagnosed with bacterial infections, make sure they test you for that. I keep thinking mine is herpes as well. Get the blood test to confirm. Good luck

you need to find a clinic that won't waste your time and money and be seen. make sure they examine your genital area as well as do testing for vaginal infections.

genital herpes is transmitted through naked and intimate contact. it's not something we have to worry about transmitting to our children.    no real reason to think you have hsv2 orally either.

I just don't get this anymore even if it is/isn't herpes. I was at work and for about half hour I had burning while sitting down and then it is just ramdomly gone. If this was an infection you would think I would have symptoms all the time not just her and there throughout the day. Grace, I noticed a "pocket" on the roof of my mouth IF it is HSV2 can I pass it to my son by kissing him?

No they didn't. At this point with persistent vaginal discomfort I can only assume it's related to herepes. I'm going on my 3rd week of ailment. When can expect to feel normal again? I just don't understand why I haven't shown anyother signs of herpes besides some vaginal burning on and off throughout this ordeal. Tough pill to swallow at this point. One quick question, IF I had genetial herpes in my mouth can I pass it to my child by kissing him? I'm fearful of that as well?

urgent care didn't test you for vaginal infections?

well I went to urgent care and they said there is nothing really to "test" for at this point. Follow up with gyno on Friday to repeat all necessary tests. This sucks, I just want to feel normal again. I am not in any pain and anything, It just doesn't feel "right" down there and I wish it would :(

now I noticed dark brown discharge. Could this mean a "outbreak" inside the vagina? I has some burning and cramping yesterday and started a new birth control in early January so could this be the start of break through bleeding? now I am just worried sick...I feel "sick" or any irritation at all.

if they see anything friday that looks like herpes lesions, they should culture them and type them, not throw something at you in hopes that it works. make sure they also retest for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too.

Grace, I made an appt for a full exam on Friday afternoon and have quit the prescription. I am now experiencing Vaginal burning again is that common? It seems weird that outbreak symptoms would come and go correct?
