Possible Herpes

Here's the time line...

Day ONE  unprotected sex
DAY THREE vaginal burning
DAY FOUR:  vaginal burning tried Monostat and it made it worse,that evening about 3 hours later went to urgent care and they tested for yeast and BV both negative and urine sample also negative. slight irritation rash but no know bumps/anything else given Diflucan (150mg) and sent on my way.
DAY FIVE slight "diaper rash feeling" tingling and paper cut like feelings
DAY SIX minimal "tingling"
DAY SEVEN :  NOTHING
DAY EIGHT:  NOTHING went to visit OBGYN explained my symptoms and he said that he woudn't be surprised IF if wasn't herpes but gave 30 day rx for Valtrex and said that we could do blood work in June ---I immediately took the Valtrex and have been taking it daily.

Now that last few days I have been experiencing "symptoms" on and off throughout the day. Burning vagina, "heat" feeling on my thighs these symptoms only last about 10 minutes and then are gone. I am just worrying myself sick or is this "classic" mild outbreak? In addition I have not experienced ANY other symptoms...no flu, no bumps I honestly would have thought that after all my reading I would have experienced a severe outbreak after the day of a burning vagina.Wondering if anyone else has had this? In addition, I did change my birth control about 30 days prior could this all be hormonal changes and my anxiety getting the best of me?!?!?!?

I had a similar experience. Unprotected sex and about 2 days later had burning irritated feeling. Went to the doctor a week later, she said nothing looked like herpes but found a small tear or scratches near vaginal entrance. Gave me a steroid ointment which did not help. To make this a short version for you, get more cultures done. Took over 4 weeks but I was diagnosed with BV, walked around with it that long and first culture was negative for that and other std's. I am still suffering with it . I had 3 heroes blood tests, all negative but these were at 2, 6 and 9 weeks so I am still concerned it could be herpes. I am at 3 months post encounter and 3rd bacterial infection. I am at my wits end with feeling irritated down there. Will have another herpes test at 16 weeks so I know for sure. Good luck, I know what you are going through.

Every week I kept going back to the clinic because I was so irritated, but had no signs of genital herpes.  So a month 1/2 goes by and I went back to the clinic in November because I had a sore that was throbbing one night.  I had a culture taken and was put on medication for herpes (Just in case).  Right after, I had a HORRIBLE UTI that wouldn't go away for a week. I was getting flu symptoms and a temp. I ended up getting a higher does of the medication for the UTI from another doctor and it went away.  Later, I found out by my general doctor that this UTI was from HSV-2 and not to be fooled by the UTI testing for positive.  It was part of the STD.  After that, I had 2 yeast infection symptoms...then again, treated for yeast infections, but could be from herpes.  The treatment worked for that, so I'm fine.  SO, if you don't see a sore, you don't have any UTI symptoms, no tingling behind your legs.... you just might now have a visible outbreak... get a blood test to make sure you are negative.

Did you ever have a herpes test? Blood or culture? I plan on getting the test but I am sick over it and praying it is negative.

I didn't. Nothing to culture and blood test in June will confirm. I was thinking maybe the diflucan took care of the unknown problem and the monstat hindered the results. But then way these on and off symptoms that randomly appear?!? Didn't know if that was typical of HSV or not ?!?

your provider erred in giving you valtrex.  you never needed 30 days of it and they shouldn't have started it without doing a lesion culture first.  did they even see any obvious lesions that they started you on it? it should've only been a 7-10 day course if they had.

You need to return to be seen again this week. get retested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally again.  make sure they also test you for gonorrhea, trich and chlamydia too.

No they were no active lesions to test and all symptoms had subsided by day 8 and then randomly I would symptoms for 10 minute increments. Is that normal with herpes? I'm going to make an appointment for another exam this week :)

When was your encounter?  Our symptoms sound so similar. I have this irritation at my clitoris, kind of an itch/ irritation which I was told could be from the bacteria. Just took 3 rd different antibiotic for BV and it feels worse. This is horrible, 3 months of constant discomfort. I keep wondering if I have herpes too which  could be why I cannot get rid of the bacteria. I just want this figured out... Doctors don't seem to be able to help.

The middle of Feb. but my symptoms aren't constant they come and go and from the cultures I didn't show any sign on infection but I am thinking that is because of the use of monostat. I questioned that Dr. and asked if that would compromise the results and was told, No. But how could monostat not compromise the results? I need to call later today for an appointment.

Key me know what the doctor says. The wait is terrible. June seems so far. I am at 13 weeks now, going to edit another week or two just so I feel more confident in the test results but I to keep thinking I feel prisoners symptoms on and off and it is enough to drive you crazy... I wish you luck

Grace, I made an appt for a full exam on Friday afternoon and have quit the prescription. I am now experiencing Vaginal burning again is that common? It seems weird that outbreak symptoms would come and go correct?

if they see anything friday that looks like herpes lesions, they should culture them and type them, not throw something at you in hopes that it works. make sure they also retest for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too.

now I noticed dark brown discharge. Could this mean a "outbreak" inside the vagina? I has some burning and cramping yesterday and started a new birth control in early January so could this be the start of break through bleeding? now I am just worried sick...I feel "sick" or any irritation at all.

well I went to urgent care and they said there is nothing really to "test" for at this point. Follow up with gyno on Friday to repeat all necessary tests. This sucks, I just want to feel normal again. I am not in any pain and anything, It just doesn't feel "right" down there and I wish it would :(

No they didn't. At this point with persistent vaginal discomfort I can only assume it's related to herepes. I'm going on my 3rd week of ailment. When can expect to feel normal again? I just don't understand why I haven't shown anyother signs of herpes besides some vaginal burning on and off throughout this ordeal. Tough pill to swallow at this point. One quick question, IF I had genetial herpes in my mouth can I pass it to my child by kissing him? I'm fearful of that as well?

I just don't get this anymore even if it is/isn't herpes. I was at work and for about half hour I had burning while sitting down and then it is just ramdomly gone. If this was an infection you would think I would have symptoms all the time not just her and there throughout the day. Grace, I noticed a "pocket" on the roof of my mouth IF it is HSV2 can I pass it to my son by kissing him?

you need to find a clinic that won't waste your time and money and be seen. make sure they examine your genital area as well as do testing for vaginal infections.

genital herpes is transmitted through naked and intimate contact. it's not something we have to worry about transmitting to our children.    no real reason to think you have hsv2 orally either.

These are the same symptoms I have, a persistant burning feeling. This has been going on for 3 months . I was diagnosed with bacterial infections, make sure they test you for that. I keep thinking mine is herpes as well. Get the blood test to confirm. Good luck

Grace I just one more quick question and then I am done. Sorry. In thinking about my past medical history I know that I have had UTI symptoms really bad to the point I went to urgent care but all tests also came back negative. I was wondering (since reading so much) could that have been herpes as well? Basically, my question is, Can herpes present itself in different ways each time? Like 2 years ago my undiagnosed UTI was herpes and now a few years later it is presented itself this way?
