I had an unprotected oral and vaginal intercourse with a woman whose status was unknown. About 3 days later I experienced a sensation in my lower abdomen and what seemed like sensitive skin around my genitals. This sensation lasted for over a week and with relentless inspection, I couldn't see a definitive lesion or sore around my penis. Just what felt like a sensitive skin/burn.

I was then tested for everything except herpes and did not receive a call, which the doctor stated "no news is good news". The practitioner also looked at my penis thoroughly and said there was nothing that looked liked herpes.

In the 3 months since this encounter, I would say it feels like I've had 4 outbreaks, if this is herpes, or 4 freakouts, if it isn't.

It either starts with an itch in the crack right above my anus, then what seems to be a stinging sensation when I pee (not unbearable burning).

(side note, two times the skin on my scrotum became red an chaffed)

Then the itch spreads all around the genital area, butt and thighs. The first three times this happened, I didn't notice anything that looked like an outbreak. This time, i had about 4 bumps about three inches above the back of my knee. They aren't painful, but freak me out.

I have scheduled three appointments at planned parenthood and skipped them all because I am too scared to be told I have herpes, even though I have not had a clear and typical herpes outbreak (according to the billions of pictures I've seen).

Anyway. I know I need to get tested to put my mind to rest, but does this seem like a grave overreaction, or consistent with a herpes infection.

Thank you.

Thank you for your response.

I have scheduled an appointment for two weeks from now. I still see the three or four bumps that are above the backside of my knee. Still get the itching and recently developed a single bump right above the shaft of my penis, but hope that this is an ingrown hair.

Of course any thoughts are helpful.

Thank you again for your response.

Most unlikely you do have herpes here.

It does seem wise thought to follow up with full STD panel testing to be sure his isn't something else and to protect future partners.

There is no inbetween here, you are either infected or you are not and this is regardless of whether you get a test. You are much better of knowing the reality under this circumstance.
