Possible symptom

I have been very paranoid about STD contraction lately, especially herpes.  I have been checking myself constantly and I haven't found anything but this morning I found what seems to be slight swelling and redness in the area around my urethra.  There isn't any pain, just slight irritation when it rubs on my underwear.  To be honest I'm not sure if it looks like that all the time and I haven't noticed.  There isn't any clearly defined sore and I haven't had any other herpes symptoms so what does everyone think.  I'm going to the doctor on Thursday but does this sound like a concern.

You already paid to ask the std experts about your situation. at this point nothing we can do until after you've followed up with the testing HHH recommended for you.  Posting on the std community, chlamydia community and herpes community isn't going to get you the answers you need at this point. You need to be seen and get proper testing done and go from there.  You should be allowed a follow up question to your post on HHH's forum once you have test results if you need additional help.

First why do you think you have herpes?  Did you have a sexual encounter or did you do something questionable?

Pain and irritation can be anything from fungal infection to something like masturbating without enough lube.  So the best thing to do is see your doctor.  If you have any worse symtoms call the doctors office and have them bump up the appointment for you believe you may have herpes and there is about a 48 hour window of getting a good sample for culture.
