Recurring outbreak

Are headaches and swollen lymph nodes in the neck normal during a recurring outbreak? Or more with a primary outbreak?

Or can just tingling and burning happen but no outbreak?? It is a realy burning pain now which gets worse as soon as I sit down..does herpes in this area occur on both thighs in the same place?

Also could any of the experts explain where on the thighs herpes lesions generally appear and would the prodome tingling go down the outer thigh almost to the knee?

Hi
Sorry I only seen you're comment now. Unfortunately my issues are still going on, burning itching pain every single day for over a month now, my gp has prescribed me steroid cream as she thinks it's a skin condition but it is not helping at all.. She says it's not herpes but I still have my doubts what else would cause this?? New symptoms that started yesterday burning tingling sensation down my thighs to nearly my knees.. Am now worried it is prdome symptoms.. All I can do is keep going back to my gp.. It's so frustrating!

Hi Katy. Have you been able to get to the bottom of your health issues? My situation is exactly like yours to be honest! And my better to know kit said negative for hsv2 at 4 months.

I have been referred to have an Mri on my spine, and my results came back as a bulged disk which I'm hoping is the cause of my horrible nerve pain and burning.  So currently awaiting to see an orthopaedic and going to a chiropractor next week!

Thought I'd let you know as I know how crazy these symtoms can be as all my health issues All started  after an encounter also!

You have conclusive evidence that the symptoms you are experiencing for six months are not related to herpes.

There is no reason to believe one protected act of sexual contact resulted in a herpes infection 7 weeks ago.

As I have said above, it is now time to move on with confidence that you do not have genital herpes.

Sorry just to be sure are you saying I don't have to wait 12 weeks from the protected sex 7 week's ago to test again for hsv2? This was a different person then the incident 6 months ago. Also the burning has been going on now for over 17 days would that even be normal timeline for a primary or recurrent infection if I did get it from the incident 7 week's ago

I suppose because I have nothing but health issues which started after the incident 6 months ago my mind is focussed on that being the cause. I will see my gp and expire other causes.
Thank you

It is the other way around, I do not know why you would think this was herpes. I think you have pursued the issue of herpes causing symptoms long enough. It is time to seek medical advice directed at discovering the true cause of your symptoms.

Should I not wAit 12-16 weeks from last sexual contact? Even tho it was protected. I do appreciate all the help just would not like to put anyone else at risk.I don't know what else could be causing the symptoms.

You cannot be anymore certain than you are now. The result can be trusted. You do not have HSV2 and you can go into a relationship on that basis.

Thank you for answering, would you think I can trust theses results from the site? Also would you advice to abstain from any sexual contact with New partners untill I have tested again? What is the correct time I should wait from the last incident to be 100% certain?

1. Yes this rules out HSV2!

2. Those with established oral infections of HSV1 do not become infected with the same virus genitally. If in the extremely unlikely event that you did, you wouldn't know it as your immune system would essentially address the virus and result in very, very minor symptoms if any.

3. At 7 weeks post an infection, about 80% of people would test positive.

No never any visible blisters or sores, just itching burning feeling and general irritation. The first incident was nearly 7 months ago I did get flu like illness, headaches etc tested negative for full stds and bloods at 6 month's, also now the igg says <0.500. Does this 100% rule out hsv2 from that incident?

Did you ever get blisters?

The exact results are
Hsv1 27.6
Hsv2 <0.500

They confirmed it is an igg test and negative is <0.09 and positive is greater than 1.1

Hi I could realy use some advice please. I received my results from better2know site and it was positive for hsv1 and negative for hsv2. I have emailed to ask for specific numbers. I have a few questions I would be grateful if you could help

1.From this result can I be sure I did not contract hsv2 from UNprotected sex over 6 months ago?

2. I get coldsores since childhood so I knew hsv1 would be positive, but how can I be sure I also do not have it genitaly? I've had burning and itching for 2 weeks now but no blisters/sores

3.I had protected intercourse 7 weeks ago, if I had contracted hsv2 on that occasion would the test have picked it up?

I am so confused if this is herpes did I contract it 6 months ago during unprotected sex, or a month ago during protected sex! If its a recurring outbreak why am I experienceing these other symptoms? Still no visible sores/lesions I'm thinking maybe they are internal but I'm not very sore it doesn't hurt to pee. It's basically burning itching pain all over.. A little stinging pain at the entrance

Please keep to your primary post.

But the symptoms you describe are usually limited to a primary outbreak that may occur in the first few weeks of infection. Any longer than that then it is far more likely to be something else.
