For as long as I can remember I've gotten cold sores on a pretty regular basis. So I was not particularly concerned when I got one this week. However, this time it started out as two separate bumps on the top of my upper lip. As the day went on I noticed another one slightly lower on the lip. By nighttime, I noticed a cluster of small bumps on my skin right above one of the bumps on my mouth. This is very unusual for me to have this many and also I never seem to get them on my skin. I'm now freaking out because I made the connection that two nights ago I gave unprotected oral sex to a guy that I do not know very well (aka don't know his sexual history). Is it possible for it to be genital herpes showing up on my mouth? And if that's the case, what does the future look like for me? Will I get outbreaks on my genitals even if they never came into contact with the guy's genitals? Can I spread it to other people if I don't have a cold sore? Thanks in advance for any answers!
if you did happen to contract hsv2 orally, the virus will not travel through your body to your genitals. If your genitals weren't near his, no risk of genital herpes from the encounter.
always in your best interest to only give and receive protected oral sex too!
