herpes 1

A guy just went down on me last night and I realized that he had what looked like a coldsore on his lips the next morning.   I am a 27 year old female who has been sexually active for 12 years and has had more than a few partners (to put it delicately:) but has never had a genital herpes outbreak.   Also I tested negative for hsv 1 and 2 last year, although I think one of them is a false positive because I can almost swear that I had cold sores as a kid.    I know it's not impossible to get genital herpes from an HSV1 but I don't think I should be freaking out about it.   What do you all think?   Trying hard to be optimistic.

I guess I'm hoping that I already have hsv1 because I've heard it's less likely to infect my genitals if I already had it elsewhere.    I mean, I don't see how I couldn't have contracted it by now really if so many people have it and I've kissed quite a few folks in my day.   And my mom gets them so...there you have it.

even the best blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. if you are sure you had cold sores as a child ( and not canker sores inside your mouth ), odds are you really do have hsv1.

at this point, ,nothing you can do but wait and see. should you develop any genital symptoms in the next 3 weeks, go and be seen for a lesion culture and treatment.
