We can only go by the facts that you state. You used the word "think", so we could only go with that. If you've been tested by a swab/culture as to genital HSV1, then yes, you have it.
If you were having an outbreak, then yes, you were highly contagious. The only thing you can do is wait to see if he gets symptoms, which would happen usually within 2-20 days.
Has he been tested to know his own herpes status?
Uhhhhh my point was I know I have it. I have been diagnosed. I didn't make this up. It was just a very different and unusual outbreak, which is why i didn't recognize it. Thanks for being so supportive, though. Clearly I joined a great online community. :(
I'm with mistakeguy - "thinking" you have genital HSV1 just doesn't work with herpes. Only a swab/culture of symptoms will tell you that's what's going on. Even a positive blood test for HSV1 cannot be conclusive in knowing.
Have you been seen by your medical provider? If not clearly that is your next step. And both of you should know your herpes status by getting an IgG type specific blood test.
Do you know that you have HSV-1?
Condoms don't do a lot of protection against HSV. The risk here is low but if it is an outbreak not to low. He should be on the look out for any symptoms within 2-20 days. If not then chances are he didn't get the virus transmitted. I would advise that he take an HSV IgG type specific test to know his own status if he doesn't already know. Most of us have HSV-1 that we got in our childhood days. If that is the case he is highly resistant to a new infection of HSV.
You can take antivirials if you are not already which will help lessen the outbreak and help with asymptonatic shedding.
