But unfortunately I also forgot I was starting to date my friend who also had hsv2 and I didn't think it was a problem if I gave him oral sex because I thought I had herpes. My doctor told me that he thought I had herpes and put me on antivirals. Now that I know I was misdiagnosed and I actually have something called lichen planus. Now I am worried that I really did contract hsv2 now that I am at risk. At the time of exposure he was on Valtrex because he got a mild outbreak. He started taking Valtrex that Monday when he said the sores were basically all gone anyway. If I had oral sex with him that Friday night(5 days after he started Valtrex) what is my risk of oral hsv2?
Hello,
The test result that was HSV 1 positive previously was the Herpeselect IGG. Both of these were not herpeselect. Only my first test done at 5 weeks post exposure was Herpeselect ELISA. The second test that I had recenty was Capita EIA.
What was the test result that was positive for HSV1 previously? IgG or IgM?
Were both these tests Herpeselect?
Either way, you are negative for HSV2 conclusively.
Your test shows your negative bottom line.
I just got a blood test with capita EIA 5 months after exposure test result was:
HSV 1 IGG: .10
HSV 2 IGG: .12
Herpes IGM: both negative
but when I took herpes select test 5 weeks after exposure it showed positive for HSV 1 which I know I have.
I still have tingling in genital region that seems to start at the tailbone but I also saw a couple purple markings on my buttocks region. Could this be lichen planus and genital herpes?
So basically highly unlikely that I acquired oral hsv2 and then autoinnoculated myself genitally with hsv2 because I did look at my genitals with some vigor. I am afraid that since my immune system was down due to mono that I did get oral and genital hsv2. Thank you so much for answering my questions I really appreciate it!
Hi, your encounter would not put you at any risk for genital exposure and since you have hsv1 oral its possible the tingling is from an outbreak.
What might be to your advantage, is if you have a new mouth sore appear to have it swabed to see if in fact its your recurrent hsv1. Autoinoculation is highly unlikely since your hsv1 antibodies would protect you from acquiring it on the genital area.
Thank you very much for responding to my post. You have put some of my mind at ease during this very stressful time. They did say my sore throat was due to mono but I am just curious about my genital issues.
