initial onset???

I slept with a girl two days ago and use a condom but came down with flu like symptoms including a runny nose and congestion as well as yellow mucus that I'm coughing up. Did I get a flu virus or are these consistent with initial onset of genital herpes. As soon as I finished having sex with the girl I went straight to the bathroom and washed with soap and water. And it was a very short duration of actual intercourse. do either of these factors reduce the likelihood that I contracted genital herpes.I say girl, rather I should say woman. Thank you for your assistance.in addition to the runny nose and general sinus congestion I also had a bout of diarrhea yesterday. This additional symptoms seems to suggest to me that I just got the flu virus. Hoping that that is the case thank you very much.

it's never 100% but when active symptoms are present, the risk is pretty high.

thank you so much grace I really appreciate it. It's good to hear that the malaise and congestion I feel is unrelated to my sexual contact with this woman. I certainly realize that I should be much more responsible especially in choosing who i sleep with and I will surely consider  that in the future. let me ask you grace, if someone does have an active herpes outbreak and my skin comes in contact with that area am I 100 percent sure to contract the herpes virus or is there a percentage of or a ratio or something of some sort that can give me a better idea of how likely a person is when coming in direct contact with herpes to contract  the virus

sounds like a cold or other non-std related viral illness, not the flu like symptoms we consider part of a newly acquired herpes infection.

washing up after sex only makes you less sticky. std's don't sit on the skin to work their way into the body over time.
