ulcers

So I just rea don wikipedia that: "Oral herpes is easily diagnosed if the patient presents with visible sores or ulcers. "

This is the first time I hear about ulcers being caused by herpes, usually its just cold sores.

Is this accurate?  Is it the type that happen inside the mouth, because I used to get those all the time and I'm curious if maybe it is because of herpes.

by the way, the doctor said it doesn't look like herpes, but it looks like this picture of herpes.

Adding that he had no alternate diagnosis makes me think its herpes.

it doesn't sound like herpes. You've seen a provider who doesn't think it looks like herpes.

No counseling.  To be honest we have had a rough couple of days but we have handled this very well and both feel fine.  I really don't think its guilt, I am just anxious.  So much so that I couldnt sleep so got up early and went to a walk in std clinic 1 hour before it opened today.

I'm actually wondering about my exam because the doctor spent about 20 seconds looking at the bumps I mentionned and said it doesn't look like herpes, come back in 3 weeks if its still there.  I asked what it could be and he just said I don't know.  So I am a bit reassured but the lack of diagnosis is still worrying.  Anyway, sorry about all my posts.

carl.....you have numerous posts on 2 boards now. It's time to stop this anxiety driven posting. I know you have guilt issues going on - do not confuse guilt with risk - they are 2 totally different things.

My advice to you is to turn off the computer and stop reading about std's and stop reading posts and stop thinking about std's all the time.  It seems to only be adding to your anxiety and interring with you accepting that it's not herpes going on.    If you have new symptoms, go and be seen by a medical provider and have them examined. Not much else we can do for you here at this point unless enough time has passed to get your final blood testing done for us to comment on.

Have you and your partner been going thru counseling together about all of this?

Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Keep that in mind if you're looking for valid, factual info. Most educational institutions do not even allow Wikipedia as a resource.

www.ashastd.org has good info on cold sores under the herpes section on their website for more reading.

Mouth ulcers, or canker sores, are in fact not the same as oral herpes.

I'm gonna assume no one has ever heard of ulcers in the mouth being caused by herpes then.
