Herpes outbreak

So, I'm so confused, embarrassed and ultimately worried. I've been married for four years and have two children; a 3 year old and a 4 month old. I've remained faithful my entire relationship/marriage with my husband. Today I found out that I have genital herpes. If I had herpes through both pregnancies, is it safe to assume that I would have had an outbreak before delivery or could I have been a carrier this whole time and the virus just now made its grande entrance? Is it safe to assume that obviously my husband gave it to me? I don't want to be accusatory, we both had been with people before we ever got together, but if I had contracted it before our time together I would have had an outbreak already, considering I've had two kids- right? I had a vaginal delivery with both. Are my son and daughter now at risk?

You could be a carrier. Your husband needs to get tested as well. Lets wait  for the test results.

What do you mean from before? I'm covered in lesions that are now covered with a white substance and are incredibly painful. I would love to hope that it isn't herpes- but, that's fairly unlikely, right?

Lets wait for the test results and will continue this later ok? Just dont be alaromed as this could have been from before. Herpes outbreaks are from many things that trigger them and could be a false positive. The swab will be the most important test result.

I had what I thought was a severe yeast infection and I was actually scheduled for my yearly wellness check this morning. My doctor told me she was 99% sure it was herpes, but did swab the sores and said she will let me know what kind of herpes it was in a week. She started me on Valtrax today and I have a follow up appt in 2 weeks

So you had a genital outbreak? Did it test positive for hsv1 or hsv2 and did you have a swab culture of the lesion done within 48 hours?
