Does Benicar (Olmersartan) cause heat intolerance or worsen hyperthyroidism?

Benicar almost gave me a heart attack on the first dose, only 20 mg.

I was just diagnosed with T3 hyperthyroidism.
Does it worsen hyperthyroidism or cause heat intolerance?

A guy uses Benicar off-label for chronic fatigue or something in the so called Marshall Protocol. While its effectiveness remains dubious.
He claims Benicar reduces the need for exogenous thyroid hormones in hypothyroid patients even getting to the point of hyperthyroidism.

"Patients who are taking thyroid supplements should be aware that their need for those supplements may change within a day or two of starting olmesartan (Benicar)."
"Patients have also noticed that their need for thyroid medication drops as they progress along on the Marshall Protocol. For this reason, physicians may need to monitor their patients' thyroid function more closely than they otherwise would. Any of the following signs of hyperthyroidism may imply the need to wean thyroid medication:.."

Has anyone felt hyperthyroid symptoms on Benicar?

Interesting to hear that Losartan lessened hypothyroidism.
Thanks a lot for your reply.

Interesting.

I am taking Losartan, which is the generic of Cozaar.   Like Benicar (which is not available in generic yet, I believe) it is an angiotensin II inhibitor.

There are usually very few side effects associated with these drugs, but their action on the biochemistry of the body is complex, so anything is possible.

I have Hashimoto's disease, which means I am HYPOthyroid.   Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily.   After just a few weeks on the Losartan, I became hyperthyroid for a while, and my doctor lowered my dose of Armour (down to 60.)

I have not noticed heat intolerance, but I am losing weight--slowly (which I don't mind as I am about 20 lbs over bikini-wearing level.)

Never heard of the Marshall protocol, but I'm going to look it up!
