How to select a reliable home blood monitor for upper arm

Hi all,

I'm not suffering hypertension but was diagnosed pre-diabetes which is now under control.

1)
On hospital visits at Aug 08, 2015 (last Summer)

My blood pressure (upper left arm)
SYS 121 mmHg
DIA         74 mmHg
PUL 85 bpm

H'stix, 2 hrs after eating  (8.4 mmol/L)

2)
On hospital visits at Jan 03, 2016 (Winter) (2 days before)

My blood pressure (upper left arm)
SYS 144 mmHg
DIA          91         mmHg
PUL 83         bpm

H'stix, 1 hr after eating  (4.8 mmol/L)

Both SYS and DIA blood pressure rise in my late hospital visit.  I couldn't under the reason behind.

The readings were taken by a Tabletop Blood Pressure Monitor, fully automatic, similar to the photo attached.  My doctor told me that my blood pressure was still in the safe range.

My doctor told me that my blood pressure was still in the safe range.

I'm wonder why my blood pressure goes up therefore I decide to purchase an upper arm blood tester for home use.  Please advise how to make my selection because there are many models on the market.  I have no pre-set budget.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
satimis

I think most arm ones are good, but never the wrist ones. Omron is a good one and i read that Rite Aid has a good one. I used it at my friends house and liked it a lot. I have an older one at home called Reli On, but it makes a loud noise and it scares the heck outa me. I never use it.
