Hypertension in young adult...

Hi thanks in advance for taking time to read this short question, and god bless! I'm 22 year old male, cardiologist currently has me taking 100mg losartan/hctz 25mg.

I'm not over weight I've played sports all my life, I don't smoke or drink, I eat decently healthy, but I cant seem to keep my systolic number down...exercise doesn't seem to help either. My top numbers stay 130's-150's throughout the day. Bottom numbers are about 60'-80...averages 75....heart rate 50'-70's.....It bothers me to be on meds this young, and it doesn't even help me that much...I don't see him for 5 more months should I call an see about switchin my meds or will I be fine? Those numbers are pretty high..I've not been tested for a secondary cause other then a lil blood work, kidney renal, head MRI, an heart echo and EKG...all normal.

I agree that your systolic number is running higher than it should be. Yes, give your Dr a call and ask if you should come in for more testing or if you should either increase your med or try a different one.
