Redness around urethra

i have had redness and inflammation around my urethra for over a month now.  i was tested for std's and hsv1 came up positive.  i tried acyclovir and valtrex but they don't seem to be helping much since i still have the problem.  it all started with a welt or blister just to the left of the urethral opening that never burst or formed lesions.  i have tried steroids ointments and they seem to irritate it.  i use protopic and it hasn't helped either.  it rubs against underwear so it makes wearing clothes uncomfortable.  other than herpes i don't know what other disease could have caused this.  i got it from brief unprotected oral sex.

My urethra is lit up again tonight, as is also a thick line of red on the glans.  I've been taking 2 valtrex a day and it doesn't seem to matter.  Has anyone heard of this?  it's almost been 1.5-2 months since infection.

I took a shower today and my urethra and meatus got really red and inflamed.  This is a daily occurence for 2 months now.  For the rest of the day I am plagued from discomfort as the urethra rubs against my underwear.  At times it is unbearable.  The over-sensitivity is unmanageable.  I cannot go out of house at times.

It seems there is a strain of GHSV1 that does not act like the others.  I have met several other men who have the exact same symptoms and the same HSV1 result.  It seems to cause CONSTANT irritation of the meatus and urethral opening.  It doesn't appear to have a dormant phase and varies in intensity throughout the day.  Why isn't anyone discussing this?  It is a major problem to a lot of men.
