high WBS 24,500

i am 35 years old, i have abdominal pain for more than a week now. my wbc is 24,500. i have also uti. we suspected that i have appendicitis but on my last check-up the doctor said that it is not appendictis. what does tis high WBC means.

Hi Alma,

I have just gone through what you are describing.  I also thought I had appendicitis.  It turned out to be diverticuitis.  I'll tell you how I felt and where the pain was, maybe it will help you.

I know it has been a while since you posted, but if you are still having problems, maybe you can check into this.

The pain was most severe right above my pubic bone.  I can't say that it was right or left, sometimes it felt worse on the right, sometimes on the left.  But definitely in the middle.  My flanks (high on my thighs) also hurt.  It hurt more when I would sit up, go to the bathroom or go up steps.  The only way to describe the pain is that it felt like my "bottom was going to fall out" and by "bottom" I don't really mean butt, just that my guts were going to fall out through my legs.

I had a fever of between 99.7 to 100.8 for 3 days.

A high wbc indicates infection,not necessarily appendix.
