Indigestion, Lactos-intolerance

Hi, I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum, but this seemed to fit in with my question.

I get very bad ingestion after eating dairy products ( cheese on pizza, mac and cheese, ice cream cake )

Last time i ate dairy, about 2-4 months ago, I had cheese pizza> I got such bad ingestion I woke up at 1am, and was up till 4am. Chugging pepto, and taking tums. Nothing would sooth it. Even contemplated inducing vomiting to see if it would help, but i decided against it.

Now I have not always gotten indigestion after eating dairy, it just started about 2-3 years ago I'd say. While growing up I never drank milk, i hated it. My mom gave up trying to give it to me, so could it be my stomac is not use to having dairy thus fights dairy enzymes or something?

Now it does not give me the runs, and I have not eaten dairy since that last time, and my mom, sadly, got me an ice cream cake for my birthday, so I poped some lactaid ( never had it before) and am sitting here eating ice cream cake hoping to god I don't get indigestion.

My question is, do you think I am lactose-intolerant, or could it be something worse? Should i mabey go get checked out or something?

Also i get shick siliva, it gets kind of flemy and takes like milk, I have it right now actually.

Sorry for my lack of details, but I just don't know what else to add.

Thanks for reading, hope you can get back to me soon.

I have a sensitivity to dairy products, but I can consume tiny amounts of milk and have no problem eating plain organic yogurt. Ice cream is the worst for me because it has the combination of high sugar, hight fat, and being a dairy product. Cheese is also harder to digest so you could try goat cheese, soy cheese, or vegetable cheese if you want as they are not as difficult to digest. I find if I don't eat dairy in large quantities then it doesn't make me too ill. And yes you can try the enzymes to help.

Good Luck

Well, I don't get diarrhea, even when i drink milk, it's usually just indigestion, like it hurts amazingly bad when i swallow, like just swallowing my own spit and such.

I can try and drink some milk and see what happens, I will also think about getting tested, thank you for the quick reply.

somepeople devolp ibs type systoms such as bloating -cramping-and diarreha after  eating carbohydrates that they are unable to absorb.one of these would be lactose intolerance.if we did not take a lot of dairy or lactose when we were younger its true the enzymes can be lower.but rem there is lactose hidden in a lot of foods so u were prob still getting the enzyme unless u were totally lactose free
the {chesse and pizza--mac and chesse} will give most people indigestion anyway cause they are simply fast food.
can u drink milk without getting diarrhea.
if u are un sure u should have yourself tested u would be surprized how many people are lactose intolerent.u would save youself a lot of worry and if u are not -u would not have to avoid foods u might enjoy.
there are enzymes u can take to replace the missing lactose .

let us know how u get on
ok
