Possible side effect of PPI ? Please help !

Hi I am a 29 years old male, been healthy all my life.
I don't drink but I do smoke, like 7-8 cigarettes per day, sometimes less.

About 2 months ago I started having stomach cramping and chest pain.  When it started it hurts so bad I couldn't even eat.  After a few days I went to the doctor and he prescribe me a H2 blocker (forgot name sorry).  The only physical test he had done is pressing on my upper stomach and ask me if it hurts, I said it does, then he claims I am having some gastritis or an ulcer.  The H2 blocker didn't work too well, the stomach cramping just won't go away.  After 2 weeks I check up with my doctor again, this time he prescribe me prevacid.

After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back.  The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week.  I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain.  Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.  After taking prevacid for a month I went back and check with my doctor telling him my symptoms, he doesn't seem to care and tell me to contiune to take prevacid for 1 more month.

Could prevacid be causing all these symptoms ?  Should I seek advice from another doctor ?

By the way below is a list of all the test I've done.
-Complete blood count which are all normal.
-Ultrasound of the gal bladder, pancreas, and liver.  Which comes back normal.
-Blood test for H.pylori Antigen, which comes back negative.
-Stool test to look for hpylori and occult bleeding, which are both negative.

I am going to do a barium swallow test in 20 days.  I haven't done CT scan or an endoscopy yet because I need to wait like 7 months to see a gastrotologist.....
Thank you for reading this and hopefully I can find some answers.

Tommy

Well I finally found out whats going on, I have a bacteria infection that mostly occurs in fish, this all started after I ate some sushi so that makes perfect sense.

I stopped my PPI after I finished my dose for 4 weeks.  Luckily I didn't start on the next 4 week as my doctor told me to do.  I now have constant heartburn everyday mostly at night, but tums and maalox can control it.  Hopefully it is only the rebound effect from the PPI, or else my doctor have given me GERD for misdiagnois me.... and put me on the wrong medicatin.

Thank you for the reply.  I booked an appointment to see another doctor today, hopefully I can get some answers from him.

I will keep this post updated until I found out whats going on with me and if Prevacid really could cause those symptoms.  Hopefully I can get to the bottom of this.

The Prevacid definitely could cause the loose bowel movements, but it should be wiping out the indigestion and heartburn.  So, yes, I would definitely go to a second doctor...that may mean waiting the 7 months (that's a helluva long time) to see the GI.  A CT and/or colonoscopy would certainly be tests a GI would consider.  Hope that helps.
