Worse at Night ? IBS-C

Does anyone have their most bothersome symptoms at night, after lying down ? Gas, burning in abdomen and stomach and generally uncomfortable all night.  Just started on Bentyl but since i don't seem to have gas during the daytime, have mostly used it at night. I did use it at first before breakfast just to see if there was any difference but can't see that it has made any difference, day or night. Also tried drinks ( Metamucil and another similar ) which seem to make things worse. The info on Bentyl states constipation as a side effect --- why would it even be suggested since thats one of the problems?
I plan on trying some suggestions from others using more natural treatments such as Magnesium and prunejuice, Ginger, Aloe vera GelCaps.

I have IBS  very bad,  often at night I would have accidents due to leakage and found that wearing protection to bed is a HUGE relief and I am sleeping much better. I used to dread falling asleep as I would often not be able to make it to the toilet in time, or leak during my sleep, and then the doctor suggested wearing protection, and the problem was over.
Now before you freak out, I am a very active guy that at first thought "no-way" but then I found total "peace of mind" and I no longer get so stressed out wondering where is the next toilet, and will I make it there.
Wearing protection is like wearing underware, except that you throw then away!

Just my 2 cents worth.

You may need to use the Bentyl more than once or twice during any given 24 hour period.  You can take it every 8 hours.  Sometimes I have to take it at the maximum number of doses in order to stop having the cramping pain, especially in the descending colon where most of us feel the pain.  At one point in time I was taking it up to four times in 24 hours.  Eventually, with dietary changes, you may be able to reduce the number of doses you need to take it.  I know it's sedating, but you work with what you've got.
