Thanks, I am gooing for laboratory examination. my Dr has also suggested LFT and RFT. I have also statrted walking/jogging. Could you kindly indicate food stuff which may be cut down to avoid sidium cosumption.
there are many factors that could cause Edema (swelling on the body).
I agree with el_em_en_oh, seek medical advice in this matter A.S.A.P..
While you do that, cut down sodium in your diet and try to do a little more walking if possible, this will get the fluid moving or circulating and going into the cardiovascular vein which will help remove it from your system.
Take care!!
Leg swelling occurs because of an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the tissues in your lower extremities, which COULD be a sign of kidney failure.
The medical term (as I understand it) for leg swelling, from excessive fluid in the tissues, is edema.
I will say though, that there are many, many other causes of leg swelling besides kidney failure, so don't take my word for it (go seek professional advice).
I just looked this up, and they list the below as other possibilities for fluid retention in the lower extremities:
***
~Baker Cysts
~Cellulitis
~Cirrhosis (Liver)
~Congestive Heart Failure
~Eosinophilic Fasciitis
~Phlebitis
~Scleroderma
~Idiopathic Edema (Swelling of Unknown Cause, typically in women)
~Leg Vein Obstruction
~Medications that you are taking
~Nephrotic Syndrome
~Phlebitis
~Salt Retention
~Trauma Injury (Contusion, Hematoma)
***
I hope that helps you a little in self-diagnosing.
All the best.
