Can 3 years of oxy create what looks like a kidney infection

I have a client that has been on Oxy for 3 years, takes two - three pills daily.  Recently thought he had a kidney infection, went to the ER, after all the tests, it was inonclusive if there was a kidney infection but they gave him antibiotics.  They don't seem to help.   Just wondering if there is a relationship between Percocet and symptoms of kidney pain.   PS he was kept for 3 days in the hospital and still has pain.

Some medications can cause bladder pain, or pain that feels like a bladder or kidney infection.
This has happened to me twice and the pain was awful. My Dr would not believe it was the medication so I had to beg him to be taken off of it. One was a statin and the other was a stomach med. Once I was taken off of the medication the pain stopped. I realize you can't just take your patient of off Percocet or he could have withdrawal. What about placing him on another pain med to see if his bladder and kidney pain goes away? I take it you're a nurse so you know there are several other meds to choose from. If everything goes back to normal with him then you've solved the mystery.
