Thank you for your response. I will be getting a fistula in the near future. I am watching what I eat and only take what my nephrologist presribe. My blood pressure is pretty good and I'm not diabetic. Nephrologist says that I am not anemic and that my blood is good. Again, thank you. Have a wonderful New Year...Romeo.
It is recommended that by CKD-4 which is chronic kidney disease stage 4, You need to prepare for dialysis. It takes a while for a fistula to develop and mature and since that is your life line you want it working properly. It will not hurt to have it early but if you need it you want it there working for you. Otherwise they will have to use a temporary catheter in your neck to do dialysis and you don't want that unless it is an emergency. It is better safe than sorry almost like carrying your umbrella. Get it done with a creatine of 5.18 you could need it at any time. You are right, eating right and watching your blood pressure and glucose if your diabetic, also dont take any new medications without checking with your nephrologist first. This can slow the disease way down sometimes for years.
