Hi there, I can understand your concern but your ALT is slightly elevated, I think anything over 50 is something to check out. What did your doctor say? Are you on any medications? Did you drink the night before or even the week before? Also fatty liver is not good. It can eventually turn into Non Alc Liver Disease. I have a friend who had fatty liver, ignored it, now she is close to cirrhosis. I hope this helps you, Dee
Here are some things that can cause elevated ALT
Liver damage from conditions such as hepatitis or cirrhosis.
Lead poisoning.
Exposure to carbon tetrachloride.
Decay of a large tumor (necrosis).
Many medicines, such as statins, antibiotics, chemotherapy, aspirin, narcotics, and barbiturates.
Mononucleosis.
You're fortunate to have discovered that you have a fatty liver before it had the opportunity to progress & cause damage. Good for you.
I'ver repeatedly read that if you have any liver condition, including a fatty liver, alcohol should absolutely be eliminated.
1) Eat foods that do not increase your liver's burden of detoxing your body
2) Eat foods & nutrients that help your liver heal
3) minimize environmental toxins, to minimize the toxic load on your liver.
Let us know how you're doing...
Yes you are right, can I take alcohol once a week ??
I don't think it has to go to cirrhosis, if you change your diet eat whole foods, no red meat, no alcohol, drink lots of water to help your liver I believe you can improve. I have seen it happen on the cirrhosis site
I am not a doctor just a fellow patient
Good luck
