Level 2 cirrhosis

Could you please explain to me what this diagnosis means.  I don''t drink but in my younger years I caught Hep c from using coke with others.  I have been clean for over 25 yrs... now my doctor told me of this and I was alone and so in shock that I did not really ask any questions.  My doctor is about 2 hr drive from me.  I would really just like for someone to tell me the different stages and what to expect.
Thank You sooo much if I know my mind will not go so crazy with the thoughts of doom.

I took the Interferon & Riba for 40 wks. I had type 2 which normally would only mean 24 wks of treatment but because I also have AIH the doctor wanted to extend the treatment to make sure.
Is this the type of treatment you took?  There are trials going on right now for different types of drugs for the treatment.  I don't remember what the name of the drugs are but you could google in for trial type drugs for hcv. Then talk with your doctor.
I contracted both hcv & aih in 1997.  By the time of my biopsy in spring of 2002 I was stage 3 that quickly but it was mostly due to the aih.
I am sorry you are so far from a doctor but treatment should be very important to you if your disease is progressing.  Did he give you any readings regarding your viral count or anything else? Viral count doesn't always count for a lot but I would find out more if I were you.  Give your doctor a call.  How long did you take each treatment?

No he just came in the room and told me that I have level 2 cirrhosis.  I was in such shock that I couldn't think of anything to ask at that time.  I have hepc and within 1 yr it went on to this.  You are at level 3 what treatment are you talking about.  I did the treatment for hepc twice didn't work. Thank you for replying.  Don't really get to talk to anyone that is going through what I am.

The only thing I can tell you is that it means there is bridging & fibroid type things going on that I personally wouldn't permit to go farther. I am stage 3 & have taken the treatment. It wasn't nice (the treatment) but better that then stage 4.
Best wishes to you & did your doctor recommend treatment?
