Liver Lesion

I am a 43 year old female and a few weeks back I began experiencing flu like symptoms.  Nausea, fatigue, weight loss, and then itching.  I went to my General Practitioner who did some blood work and stated there was somthing up with my liver and ordered an ultrasound.  The ultrasound showed a 2 x 3.5 cm lesion on the left side of my liver, not sure which lobe.  I had a CT Scan with contrast (IV dye & Barium drink ?) and have not yet found out the results.  My symptoms have subsided, but still experiencing pain in my back and side which is probably in my head now that I know something is up with my liver.  I am a nervous wreck waiting for the results.  What could it be, I like to be prepared to deal with any possibility.  Should I be seeing a specialist now?

I had a similar experience almost 10 years ago.  My liver enzymes were elevated but I had no other symptoms.
Further investigation revealed a 3.0cm lesion on the upper lobe.
I was told it was nothing, but I suspected more.
I insisted on a followup consultation with the doctor, after which a biopsy was performed. It was determined that the lesion was not malignant, but it WAS in transition to malignancy.
I wound up getting an RF Ablation to remove the lesion. (that's surgery done whereby microwave radiation is used to destroy the tumor without using a scalpel or incision)
Now, every six months, I have an MRI to insure the lesion is not returning and that no more are present.
Had I not followed up on this myself, I would not be alive today.
If you think something is wrong, DEMAND further investigation.
You know your own body better than anyone else does.
Don't just take the word of a doctor if you think it's not accurate.
Be SURE.  You may only have ONE CHANCE to get it right.
Good luck.

Hi there,

Did you every find out the answer to your liver lesion?  I am having the same thing.  I am 24, had a CT for abdominal pain and weight loss, and they found a low density lesion on my upper lobe.  The doctor has told me not to worry, and doesn't even suspect a follow up because it's so small.  It's still scaring me, so I'd really like to hear someone else's experience.  Thanks!
