Fibroscan result

Hello, I was diagnosed with moderate fatty liver and went into see a hepatologist and did fibroscan. Result came out LSM 4.3kPa and CAP 293dB/m with possible diagnosis of NASH. Doctor told me biopsy wasn't necessary at this stage and I’m wondering what is going on. I thought biopsy is mandatory when you suspect chronic liver disease. Any input will be great appreciated.

Thank you Hector. I couldn't find the right place to post my question. I see that most of the forums have either generic liver disease forum or chronic and nothing inbetween in the gap. I'm just trying to figure things out and be diligent as possible with my health and outcome.
