Persistent Headache

I believe I'm suffering from a sluggish liver. A year ago, I was diagnosed as non-diabetic but my fasting blood sugars were spiking up around 120-130. I also felt sluggish/fatigued and had other symptoms. Went to the ER twice and to my personal MD, none of which yielded any indications of what was wrong with me. I had two blood panels, both of which came back within the norms. I went cold turkey from drinking wine (my only real vice) and eventually felt better. Started drinking wine (2-3 glasses a night) and started to feel crappy again. One thing that's been happening is I can't shake a fairly persistent headache. It will get worse at night. 800mg of Tylenol will have only a minimal effect. I'm trying milk thistle and am not currently drinking (8 days and counting) but the Headaches are still there. Any help or insight would be most appreciated.

I believe one large reason for my headaches was overuse of Advil and Tylenol. I've stopped taking them for about 4 weeks now and it seems to have done the trick. If they return, I'll post my issues at that time. Thanks for the comment Dr Santos.

Hi,
It is good that the initial diagnostic test results were normal. According to naturopaths, sluggish liver or problem with liver function may present with a variety of symptoms including headache and fatigue. Diet modification such as low fat and low alcohol intake are usually recommended. However, if the headache persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Additional diagnostic tests may need to be done also. Take care and do keep us posted.
