Its good that he took you off of the Zocor, as statins have also been linked to liver damage (which, I am sure, is why he took you off of it).
I would guess that you are going to find that your enzymes start trending downward after being off the Augmentin and Zocor. I would suspect that the combination of drugs (which are known to be potentially harmful to the liver) could have caused the elevation of your AST...but that is just my guess.
If you are concerned about hepatitis, why not ask for your doctor to run labs for HCV and HBV...if for no other reason than to put your mind at ease?
Yes - I take sotalol and digoxin - have for 5 years - also Zocar, which he took me off.... thanks.....
Augmentin can cause liver damage, as can tylenol (if you take more than the recommended 4,000 mg/day). I suppose that the risk would be increased with concurrent use of augmentin and tylenol. Usually, once you have stopped taking the medication, your enzymes could trend downwards to normal.
Do you take any cardiac medications (ie. amiodorone, etc)?
P.S. I do not drink - ever.... thanks again
