elevated Billirubin and ALT levels

35 yrs old male with all other tests normal.Has only Billirubin and ALT levels elevated.Ultrasound done 4 months ago showed mild degree of fatty liver.Rest everything is normal.Pls help ,what it could be.Is it really serious and what could be done.Pls suggest....help would be apprecited.Thankz.

steatosis can be caused from factors other than alcohol. Both my brother and I have a degree of it - neither of us drink: he's overweight, and I am not.  NASH can cause the deranged liver panel results you are seeing - and if the doc can see an underlying cause, (environmental, hepatotoxins like pesticides, solvents, other drugs) then perhaps the offending substance can be removed from your environment - and then improvement can take place.

A fatty liver is most commonly caused by alcohol and obesity. If it's only a mildly fatty liver, then I would think you can 'fix' it fairly easily with a healthy diet and abstaining from alcohol. The doctors then say you can usually see to what extent the liver will recover after about 6-9 months.
