OMG this is so surreal....I was sick for about six weeks, fever, rash and all...I finally said something to my Dr. about lyme, came back positive, IGM was positive with two bands, I believe 23 and 41. Treated me with Doxy, seemed better, last year came down with another rash and very bad neck pain. Sent me to a rheumi, thought I had lupus, they must have the same symptoms, ran MRI on neck and head, white matter on brain, i wonder if the lyme is causing this. So yes, I believe they have the same symptoms.
This is why it is important to see a doctor who is educated about lyme disease and knows the proper testing needed.
i feel the same as you trying to diagnose myself cause doctors seem useless. i called my neuro and said could it be lyme..its like a lightbulb went off in his head like duh! my results apparantly were negative. they said the screening was only .9 so they didnt even run the igg or igm...i dont get this why wouldnt they do all tests needed?
The 24 hour test is ran at any old lab, just for quick results. There are a lot of false negatives and false positives from these...I hear.
I guess lyme testing is not even close to in it's prime and there are only a few labs that are very accurate. I know IGeneX in Cali is. Expensive tho. And your insurance may reemberse you.
There is another good one but I dont remember what its called.
I have been told to trust the negatives and also that both are antibody tests and both very difficult to diagnose especially in the early stages.
After this is all over...I might as well go to med school, I wont even have to study! I'm learning so much just trying to get diagnosed!
What is the 24hr lyme test? I don't know much about Lupus, but I'm becoming a wealth of info. on Lyme:)
I would doubt lupus due to the negative ANA.
