Online article by P. Weintraub

The "Cure Unknown" author (a great book about the medical history and patient experience with Lyme) has a new article online:

"From Chronic Fatigue to Lyme: Medically Unexplained No More.
Labeling sick patients psychiatric is medical abuse."

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/emerging-diseases/200910/chronic-fatigue-lyme-medically-unexplained-no-more

I'm a big fan of her writing, and always keep a look out for her.

I've found that arrogant and ego maniac physicians have a low self-esteem. ; ^)

I think some it  is arrogance.  They can't admit they don't know but feel they have to give a diagnosis so they give a diagnosis that can have long-lasting if not permanent affects on a person.  If a doctor given you a diagnosis of depression every other doctor that sees it gets an instant impression that this is the cause of a person's problems.

I think some of these psychologists and psychiatrists have issues. I mean... to automatically assume that a new illness is caused by stress or depression is not only harmful to the people suffering, but it is stupid and even selfish. Obviously some psychologists and psychiatrists are eager to make a name for themselves... even if that means acting in an inappropriate, abusive manner. That is medical abuse and it hurts others. Of course the recommendation for such inappropriate behavior would be counseling.  ; ^ )

It is medical abuse.  I was perfectly happy until this hit me and I got some of those labels.  I think this was one of the hardest parts of being sick......having them all label you and say it's in your head.
