I only take ibuprofen. I have continous, chronic pain all the time.
I was on Neurontin and then Lyrica for nerve pain while undiagnosed. I've taken NSAIDs (both OTC and Rx) which at best take the edge off of my joint pain.
I haven't had pain that is both bad and persistent enough to make me consider other options. While I've had periods of more intense pain, they have thankfully been relatively brief.
My best (untrained lay-person!) advice is to be open with your doc about the type and severity of pain so that they can do their best to help. Of course stronger meds bring greater responsibility, and all choices require a careful risk/benefit analysis. But being stoic ain't worth it, IMO.
in my joints and my lymph glands, i use to think i had bone cancer because the pain was so bad.
I've been wondering the same thing lately with my horrible neck, back, and shoulder pain. I've been taking Aleve but it barely touches it. What kind of pain are you talking about? Muscle, joint, or nerve?
