I believe transmission from mosquitos is still controversial. Even so, you could have been bitten a tick and not even known it. Especially since that is a lyme endemic area.
Sorry to hear you are not well.
I have read mentions that mosquitoes may carry Lyme from person to person, but the medical community has most widely studied the tiny ticks as the main method of infection.
I have Lyme and had a coinfection and never saw a tick or a bullseye rash, so there is much possible but not understood by the MDs.
Have you been tested for Lyme and related diseases? Long Island is a hot spot for Lyme+. It seems someone can have Lyme and other tick-borne illness but also have other ailments as you mention, and it all gets jumbled up together making diagnosis more complex. On top of it, many drs don't take Lyme seriously and use tests that are less accurate than more recently developed ones, yet defend the use of the old tests.
You might consider seeing a Lyme specialist who takes a broader view on the situation (see ilads [dot] org for referrals, and google 'how to find an LLMD').
Good luck, let us know how you do.
