menopause maybe?

Hello everyone, I've not posted on this forum before but I have questions I think only you guys can help with

I'm 45, my periods have been irregular for about 18mnths (they're either 4 months apart or coming every 2-3 wks and lasting 10 days), I have had the blood test and my Dr says i'm entering the menopause, I also got diagnosed with anaemia and MS the same day...not the best day I've ever had lol

anyway, I was on pregabalin for 3 mths for the MS symptoms and I understand that can affect the periods, I came off that end of Jan

I haven't had a period since the beginning of December but had quite a bit of spotting in January, then a rust coloured watery discharge (which the Dr says is old blood) which has now given way to a very slight, almost colourless watery discharge only now and then

I have a smear booked  to be on the safe side but my Dr doesn't think there's anything to be concerned about - are these all normal symptoms? I've been reading the health pages but I thought I would come straight to the people who know!

Val, i was kinda like you..didnt know what symptoms fitted what problem.Started out in january thinking it was all Menopausal and  i remember thinking OMG IS THIS HOW ITS GONNA BE.I soon figured out that some was Meno but some was sinus problems...some symptoms present the same..didnt know if it was hot flashes or fever i was getting , where the fuzzy headed feelings sinus or Meno, The list goes on.I,m still not sure what actual Meno symptoms i have til i can rid myself of this sinus infection.I may have none at all(wouldnt that be lovely) Or i could have a few. I,m hoping i get no more periods however. I did at the beginning take Premproe low dose HRT ..I took it for 2 days and couldnt take anymore..everytime i took it i got a very tight feeling in my chest/lungs so decided id just have to stick it out...course i was still thinking all these horrible things going on was Meno and didnt associate it with Sinus. I do however have an ENT app for that problem this friday and just holding out hope it gets sorted. Its really ruining my job. Meno i think i can deal with..but not sure...lol.
I,m sure you wil lbe fine with the Pap smear and it will put your mind at rest. Hope your Symptoms for the MS arent to bad..isnt it something that comes and goes? I,m not up on it to much but ive heard people say they have good and bad times. You know my mother and quite a few people have told me that whatever you suffered with before Meno seems to manifest itself much worse during. Our Hormones are so totally out of whack and it can effect so many things.Lucky us.... lol

thanks for answering, sorry about your sinus problem - I had a sinus infection once and it was the most painful thing, hope you're sorted soon,

yeah the MS thing is a bit unlucky, problem is we don't know what symptoms are caused by that and what are being caused by the menopause but I'm like you, I'm hoping the periods are finished with now - at least that's one good thing

take care
