Not sure if this is in the right forum

Hi everybody. I have this odd question, well at least I think it's odd. I have been having irregular bleeding with hot flashes. I'm only 27 years old and I've had my menses since I was 9 years old. I know I was young when I started.

My question is this though I have been experiencing irregular bleeding I have been passing blood clots that average from small euro pennies to big American sized quarters. I have been having my monthly's like this every month for years just like that.

Is it normal to have that???

I do have to add that my last visit to the GYN. was like 6 years ago and he did find irregular cells and they were removed. So I know I am at risk for cervical cancer because of that.

Hi Huntress2181.  I will be 45 in 3 months.  I have always passed clots and also understand that to be quite normal as this is the shedding of the tissue from the uterine wall during our periods; somtimes passing more clots, different sizes etc. than at other times.

You have noted that it has been awhile since you've seen your gyno; so, it would not hurt for you to have a check up pretty soon.  You may want to have a list ready ahead of time regarding any questions or concerns you may have ~ this always puts my mind at ease, esp. when I have waisted so much time worrying for so long about something, only to find out later by my doctor that, in my case, it wasn't anything to worry about after all.

So, go ahead and make an appointment if for nothing else but to put worries to rest.

Have a positive thinking day!   :  )

I did have large blood clots during menstruation many years back.  I understand that blood clots actually are the tissue shed when uterine wall breaks down during "period".
Now I have entered menopause (I'm 51).  Did you have any period pain?  blood clots are normal.

As for hot flashes at age 27? quite unusual as I know hot flashes are for women entering menopause when they're in their forties.  However I met a young lady age 28 who had not had her period for 13 months and the doctor told her that she may be having premature menopause.  So, she went for hormone blood test. waiting for results.

By the way, don't worry, do pap smear every year just to play safe.
