Hi, i'm 57 years old and no sign of my periods stopping. they stopped for 4 months about 6 months ago, then just came back, and i am on a low dose of HRT, i get headaches and my fingers and feet swell, and thats about it, sometimes a bit of brain fog..... other than that i'm happy and feeling ok. But surely 57 is a bit old to still be having periods, most of my friends had their last ones before the age of 50.
Hello~This issue is usually hormonal and when the body is adjusted after the menopause, the problem usually disappears. I would suggest trying a good, bio-identical progesterone cream, this is great to use during and after menopause and is very safe, you can get it at any health-food store. It acts as a natural diuretic and helps to balance the hormones as they are going through the Peri-menopause/menopause phase.
I'm glad to hear the swelling as stopped. Mine still swell in the morning but often the swelling had gone by mid afternoon or evening. I'm hoping this will stop in time. It would be good to hear if anyone else has suffered similarly.
I never did get a medical explanation. It lasted quite a number of months and was uncomfortable so I had my ring resized. Now my fingers are back to their original size and my ring is too big. I don't think I will ever know why they became swollen or why they went back to normal, I'm just glad they did!
Hi,
Yes I am also going through the menopause and have noticed exactly the same thing. It started about three months ago and yet it has been about 18 months since my periods stopped. Like you, I haven't gained weight anywhere else, so would really be happy to hear if there is a medical explanation for this.
