vaginal blood after 2 years of last period

My wife has 48 years and her last period was in may/2010 almost 2 years ago from now. We are taking vacation in a very calm place and suddenly she start having a little blood from her vagina, she mentioned me that she feels same sintomathology than her periods, but we are very worry thinking that this can be a serious problem. We heard that after 1 year of last period with out any other period can be menopause but if a vaginal blood occurs after can be other problems non related to menopause, like cervical cancer. Her last pap was 2 years ago and everything was ok, before that every year she had her pap, this is the longest time with out taking this routine examination, any comment will be really appreciatted.

Thanks

Blood is away now, she had only 1 day discharge when usually her periods had 6 days, what happened? Is this a normal issue during menopause? She does not have any other symptom

She could have ovulated and now is having a period.  It's not impossible after menopause, especially at only 48 and given that she only had her last period a couple of years ago.  She can get in to see her doctor when she gets home, but it really just sounds like a period.
