Male Yeast Infection... Or Maybe Herpes?

I'm a woman asking about my male partner's problem. He has been having a shiny, irritated area on his penis shaft right by where it connects to his groin. It seems like it's been a few months and it won't totally heal. We had STD testing a while ago and were cleared, but I don't think we were tested for herpes because neither of us had any signs of herpes outbreaks or anything. I just found out I have a bad yeast infection and bacterial infection (both not STDs). Could he have gotten a yeast infection on his penis from unprotected sex with me? Nothing else is affected (nothing on the tip or scrotum). It hurts when we have sex, so we have stopped for a while now (with a bit of slipping up but nothing long lasting or rough). It still hasn't healed but it doesn't look like there are any bumps except it looks like 1 or 2 ingrown hairs, maybe. No ulcer or crusting or oosing. He thought it was just like a friction irritation from having sex, but it's lasted so long (like 2 months I think) that I'm afraid it could be bad.
Does it sound like yeast? Does it sound like herpes? Does it sound like something else?
Thanks!
