Scrotal problems

So, as brief as i can.  Had a protected sexual encounter with a questionable partner 5 months ago.  24 hours later I had a small blister at the base of my penis.  I have HSV1 for 20 years and had Valtrex on hand.  Immediately took 1g and followed on with 500 mg 2 x day for 5 days.  Condom didn't break.  It was painless and held clear fluid and was completely gone within 2.5 days.  I suspected HSV2.  I contacted her and she's claiming to be tested clean.  I read you have to wait for a blood test to accurately test for it so I waited until 9 weeks.  Results were negative.  The whole time I have had a persistent "prickly" feeling in my scrotum and at the area where it meets my thigh.  Not itching.  Not pain.  It moves around daily.  Non existent when I wake up.  Seems better after a shower.  At 19.5 weeks I had acute left testicular ache/pain.  I started a 100 mg 2X daily regimin of Doxy and its better.  I am lost as to what this can be.  Can't afford to go to dr. at this time.  Plan to retest for HSV2 at 6 months.  Any thoughts?
