This is help yourself exercise and you will not be in dead end.Start with 5 minutes and build up your timing to the maximum, when you will start to notice your migraines getting less severe.Keep doing this exercise once a day after the migraines have gone.ONLY by doing you benefit.Come back to report progress.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs.You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed
thanks. the headache is triggered each time I fall into sleep. I have tried sleeping tilted up.. the deeper I sleep the worse ti is. I do dream..a lot. If is sleep very lightly I feel a bit better. I wake up with intense temple pain, sinus pressure, achy body, numb toes... my mom has bad migraines but not like this. I am seeing a nutritionalist now but I am not sure if this is another dead end treatment...
Here is a test to try. Raise the head of your bed. There are a few ways to do it and directions on the net. I too take the nap in the middle of the day - it is the only thing to get the pain under control. Are you taking anything to make you sleep deep? OK - that is probably a stupid question. The goal is not to take the nap. Regular bedtime, yada yada but I know how you feel. Are you remembering your dreams? You don't dream in the deepest stage of sleep. Also, do you wake in the morning after just having a dream that seems like an EPIC motion picture and your tired? You may actually need a sleep study.
Also, you might want to see if you have a PFO - there is a webpage for the MIST II study. The concept is that there is a flap in your heart that closes and opens incorrectly causing blood to improperly get to your head thereby causing headache. I'm sorry to hear about your headache problem but I get so scared when I feel the chest pain - kinda glad to hear someone else has it.
Well/ I have tried the bite plate in the past and had a spinal tap to see if my spinal fluid was o.k.
every time I fall asleep (even for a short time) I wake up with temple pain, sinus pressure, and heart symptoms. 17 years now... If I sleep very deeply (deep dreams) aI am much worse...If I sleep in short spurts I feel a little better. A nap in the middle of the day when I am feeling aweful will help relieve some pain and pressure...It seems to point to an unusual migraine but I have no idea how to treat it. It seems I have tried everything....

Welcome to my world. I too can feel perfectly fine before going to bed. Then by about 4:00am, my head is screaming, pounding pain. My last idea also thought of by a great poster on this board was possibly a Chiari I. In other words, at night the CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) builds up in your head at night from laying flat. Then in the morning you have to get rid of the CSF. It is rare and although my cerebral "tonsil" looked a little low, not enough to be Chiari. Something you may want to look at. Also, with your symptoms, have you ever been to a Rhumatologist for bloodwork. SLE Lupus and RA (Rhumatoid Arthritis) can cause the symptoms you are experiencing. Yes i agree you may be clenching your teeth during sleep. Clenching of teeth can cause severe headache.Please use a bite guard and see if it makes any difference to your headache.
I agree with the comment that you can get migraines from sleeping too much or too little. It happens to me. But one the main reasons can be that you are clenching your jaw as you sleep or grinding your teeth as you sleep. A bite guard can assist you or even a trip to the dentist for a bite readjustment. You could have TMJ. Also, if you get regular message - they can treat the jaw area inside (with glove non latex) and outside to get a release in the jaw area. Just a thought.
Darn. I have had 2 sinus surgeries and unfortunately do not have sinusitus. THe migraine seems to cause many sinus symptoms. I still can not figure out why my sleep (the deeper I sleep the worse it is) triggers my migraine.

Migraine can be triggered by too little or too much sleep. I would suggest you to get yourself examined by a physician to rule out acute sinusitis. Take OTC painkillers for headache, and steam inhalation which will make you feel better if you have sinusitis. You can also at the advice of your doctor try a sleep aid which will make you sleep through the night.Good Luck!
