Last month I went to the Emergency Room couldn't take it much longer.. the pain was unbearable. I suffer from migraines and usually my migraines have been in the front of my head which makes me sensitive to lights and sounds and all I would want to do is be in a dark quiet room. well I am on 200 mg of topamax for my migraines which I dont have as often as i use to. but this one pitucular day I started having this dull burning sinsation in the back of my head when it gets so bad it feels like the back of my head is on fire and it makes me dizzy when im up on my feet and i try not to get up to fast when im lying down or sitting.. I had a c-scan taken at the er and it came bk normal. this has been going on for over a month now I have been on the topamax for over a year. plz some advice..

Hi,
How are you? How is your blood pressure? Postural hypotension occurs when the blood pressure dips when you suddenly stand up. Knowing your triggers for migraine will help you avoid recurrences in the future. Relaxation techniques like biofeedback therapy as mentioned by kajama is also effective. Take care and do keep us posted.

I have had migraines for last 8 years and go to ER about once a month. I have had the burning sensation in back of my head and my neruologist diagnoised me with have basilar migraines. All my test came back normal.  the funny thing is I used to work for a neurologist. The best thing to do is to take meds before pain gets to bad. I also took topamax but took 400 mg every day. I have a hard time speaking and forget things often.  MY doc also put me on lamictal and depakote also. 'there usually is no cure except prevention. I used to take fiorcet and lortab and valium. but developed an addiction to them so now I take otc meds and sometimes tordol. A good thing to try is relaxation tech. or biofeedback. That has helped me.  I wish you the best of luck and hope this helps
