Hi,
Yes, TMJ can be fixed. Your ENT specialist will be able to help with that. The presence of a click may suggest that the joint may be dislocated. This causes inflammation that may refer pain to the cranial structures causing headaches. I know this is frustrating but other causes of headaches have to be ruled out first before one can say that you are suffering from benign migraines.
I Have not been to the doctor for this, I just took the vicodin because i had it left over from kidney stones.I havent taken any in a couple weeks and i still have headaches. I do have dental problems - I have TMJ, my jaw clicks when i open it and when i eat. Could this be the cause? Can my jaw be fixed? Im so tired of all my illnesses. Headaches, backaches, Pelvic prolapse, achy joints, nausea, kidney stones. Its so expensive! I just want to be better im only 26!!!!
Hi,
I suggest you get a proper consult done by a neurologist to have your headaches classified. A complete neurologic examination will be able to rule out other neurologic problems. Although in your case, this seems unlikely.
Sinus problems, ear and dental problems, eye disorders and cervical spine disorders also need to be ruled out.For chronic headaches ,this may have started as a migraine or tension headache.Medication overuse ( taking the medications everyday for greater than 10 days for 3 months) may worsen the headaches.Disuss this with your physician.Preventive migraine thrapy may also help.
I do know that using Vicodin is very physically addictive to the body. You will have rebound headaches if you try to stop taking it and they are worse than the original headaches. You need to get proper, non-habit forming medication for your condition. Why in the heck did your doctor prescribe Vicodin? Any headache specialist would never do that. I have suffered migraines for 15 years and was taught that in the very beginning. What type of headaches were you diagnosed with?
