Question for Doctor :)

For the last week, I have had recurring headaches.  I was curious to know if headaches can be due to neck and back strain.  I just started playing fastball and my neck , back and arm are so sore.  I'm wondering if its most likely related to being so sore and stiff and due to muscle strain.  I noticed that they started when I started playing ball again.  Also, I have been taking very strong Advil as well as Tylenol and still feeling the head pressure and headache, which makes me think its due to being so sore.  Thanks so much for taking the time to read my question :)

Hi Vanessa and thank you for replying to my question.  No I have not had any injuries.  I was very silly for not having much of a warm-up or stretch before playing sports.  And then after this I thought going to aerobics would help stretch me out.  My neck, back and shoulders are still so sore and it has been 3 days.

About two weeks ago was when I first started playing fastball again and that is when my headaches started around.  I had a feeling that these headaches were related to being stiff and sore, and I'm sure I've pulled some muscles.  I am going for a massage this weekend and to see my acupuncturist next week.  Do you have any suggestions for a quicker healing process?  I am supposed to be playing ball next week but now I am hesitant because these headaches have been very annoying.

Thanks again.  Will the headaches begin to go away once the muscles and sore areas heal or start to relax?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Yes, headaches may be caused by musculoskeletal problems. I suggest that you be very careful when you engage in sports and other activities.

Have you in anyway, injured your back?

Do you have any previous injuries to the spine?

I suggest that you have this checked by a rehabilitation medicine specialist or a sports medicine specialist. I feel that it is important that this be assessed so that any musculoskeletal problem may be ruled out.
