Sudden severe headach

Last night I was straining to have a bowel movement and when I was done I had a headache that felt as if my head was exploding.  Is this something that I need to go to emergency room, make an appointment with my doctor or just mention to the doctor the next time I see him?

Hi u will find many threads on this topic in the neuro forum......UNless u were having other issues I would say it is not a ER issue as I had them all my life, as a child I thought it was normal to have that pain after a BM,....
What u want to look at is do u get pain from other forms of straining, yelling, coughing, sneezing, laughing.....lifting, pulling, pushing...

If so see ur Dr a MRI may be in order to see if u have a cervical disk issue .....were u ever in a MVA or a fall?

Do let ur Dr know in the mean time u may want to pick up a stool softener to help avoid that strain and pain as a result.....

Good Luck and do keep us posted : )
