headache

I started out with a strange feeling in the left side of my head where I have a sensation of fluid and pain in my head.  My left ear has been plugged up.  When I move my head from side-to-side or right to left is when I feel the sensation.  I went to the doctor who checked my ears, and my symptoms.  They assumed it was a sinus infection, although I have had no drainage of any mucus from my nose, no congestion, and I have never had a history with sinus infections.  So, I assumed that must be what it was.  I do get migrains on the right side of my head once in a while.  I definitely did not think it was a migrain.  The Dr. perscribed amoxicyline for two weeks, 6 per day.  The symptoms did not change.  I would wake up in the morning with pain in my head and with the same sensation when I moved my head from side to side, and my ears still had the full feeling as though I had been on an airplane, a very clogged feeling where I felt like I needed to yawn to pop my ears, yet it would still not clear.  So, I called the Dr. went back again, I then had zithromax which is obviously a stonger antibiotic.  All this time I was also taking Tylonol or Advil which had no effect the pain, or the sensation when I moved my head or the feeling of fullness in my ears.  So, I went back to the Dr. again with the same symptoms.  This time I was directed to a ear, nose, throat specialist.  They did all of the hearing tests, my hearing is fine, my ears and nose are all clear, and I had a CAT scan that also came up clear of issues.  The specialist seems to think this is some sort of migrain headache, viseral.  She said that was what might be causing the fullness feeling in my ears and the pain I have been experiencing.  None of the medications I have been given have been helping since this started for now 4 months.  I went back to my Dr. yesterday.  He does not think it is a migrain, but did perscribe Fioricet which has had not effect accept to increase the presure in my ears today.  He also perscribed Nortriptyline for prevention of future headaches.  I have had no change in symptoms in the last four months regardless of time or medication.  Do you have any suggestions or advise for what this could possibly be?  I will be seeing a nuerologist tomorrow.  I appreciate an additional insight into my ongoing issue.

Thank you.

Hi Michelle, the CT scan did not give a clear picture . So when youn see the neurologist ask him to do an MRI brain. That could give you a clear diagnosis and the neurologist will bew able to treat you.Hope this helps you. Take care !
