Any help for a miscarriage

Hi everyone.  I had my first pregnancy and miscarriage on November 20. 2009, I was 2months along in my pregnancy.  Is there a cure or any medications to prevent or lessen your chances of having another miscarriage?  I just had one but my heart is sadden to hear people go through this 2, 3 and 4 times.

Just to comment about the prometrium it is great however please don't get the wrong idea.  If you are going to miscarry you will and prometrium won't always work.  I'm on 100mg prometrium 2x's day, additional folic acid, prenatal, 80mg baby asprin.  I'm currently going through my 8th m/c with no live births.  My last blood work showed my progesterone level at 59 and my beta 430.  I was 4wks 5 days.  Levels look good but my first beta was 177 and progesterone at 37 at 3 wks 6 days.  My levels did not double like they wanted.  I also started to spot and now bleeding heavy even though my progesterone levels are where they should be.

Don't get me wrong, prometrium can help out a good pregnancy and help sustain it however if something is wrong no matter what your progesterone levels are your body will abort the pregnancy.

i had 2 miscarriages and am almost 11 weeks with my third pregnancy. Everything is going great. I am on baby aspirin a day and 200mg 2x prometrium. its working for me! progesterone does an amazing job at holding pregnancies, and the baby asprin is to thin you blood so more goes to the uterus. This can also help if you have a blood clotting issue. i have never been tested for anything but i wanted to try 1 more time first with these medicines and i believe its really helping me.

If you've only had one miscarriage then the chances really aren't that much difference.  I have had my first miscarriage recently and had the D&C done on Nov 30th.  I do have a 19 month son, so I'm not too worried about another miscarriage YET.  As long as you make sure everything is healed then just find a dr who is willing to deal with you freaking out about every little thing.

My first Pregnancy was with a family dr and I really didn't like it that much, so I went with an OB for mysecond, but had to switch dr's office due to what hospitals they use, so for my 3rd pregnancy I'm going with a midwife.  I meet with her on the 23rd to see if I like her, and to see what she can do to help make me feel better for the next pregnancy.  I know that it's going to be VERY hard until I deliver another baby.  I think I'm ovulating now, so hopefully in 2 weeks we'll start to try again.  I'm only 25 and both my husband and I seem to be very fertile.  I had my miscarriage at about 11 1/2 weeks, but the baby stopped developing at 6 1/2, it was a missed miscarriage.

Good luck!  I hope things go well for you this next time around!

Hi.  Thanks for commenting.  What will folic acid do?  I had a D &C on December 1.  been spotting on and off since then but my periods are abnormal anyway, but usually after my ivf cycle I would have a period come naturally.  I will be trying again in March hopefully, doing my 6th IVF.  It hurt so bad because I tried so hard with injections after injections, but I WILL stay prayful and positive.  So sorry to hear about yours.  Will you try again?  Did you do this naturally or infertility treatments?  How old are you?  I was 2months pregnant when I miscarried, How far along where you?  Lets stay in touch.  God Bless

Hiya sorry to hear that. I also had one on 22nd November, this also my first pregnancy. I don't think from what I have read there is any particular reason generally for a miscarriage, the chances are 1 in 4 so quite high. I feel the same, it's the worst thing ever. Just concentrate on getting yourself as healthy as poss and take folic acid and look after yourself. Have you had 1st period yet? I'm hoping mine will be this weekend/ next wk.
