Aspirin and progesterone after m/c

I recently experienced (still am going through) a miscarriage. I was supposed to be 8w2d and measured 7w4d by ultrasound. This was my first pregnancy. I have read that aspirin can decrease the risk for miscarriage, but is this only for recurrent miscarriages and if there is some sort of known clotting disorder? Also, I have read that progesterone can help to sustain a pregnancy. I have not had my progesterone level checked so am not sure if I had low progesterone. My practitioner never mentioned having my progesterone level checked. Also, my periods prior to the pregnancy have always been regular and I know I was ovulating, so does this mean I most likely do not have low progesterone? Thanks!

I saw your other comment/question to me on another thread. You asked me how long we planned on waiting before trying again because I'm having a miscarriage right now as well. Ugh, by the way, I'm so ready for the bleeding/spotting to be over. It's like a constant reminder.

Anyway, this is my 2nd miscarriage. I had a miscarriage in 2006. We started trying immediately (even before my first period) after the 1st miscarriage. We got pregnant after my 1st period and our daughter is now 20 months old.

This time I don't know that we'll try. We'll just let it happen if it happens. But I'm known to change my mind a lot so who knows what we'll end up doing!

I'm sorry about your loss.  All I can tell you is that I will never take progesterone supplements again.  I don't think you can tell by your periods if you have low progesterone, but a lot of women who do, as far as I know, have a very difficult time getting pregnant in the first place, bacause the uterine lining does not thicken well if it's low.  I had no problems with my daughter 4 years ago, had a m/c this past April (which was a chemical pregnancy) and another one a few days before Halloween.  This last one had to be induced with medication b/c I was given progesterone at 6 weeks which only made my body hold onto a bad pregnancy.  If you think that progesterone may be your problem PLEASE get tested before you get pregnant, a problem can be found then. I'm sorry this is long, but I feel very strongly now about not taking the supplements if they are not needed.  I firmly believe I would have m/c much earlier and without medication had I not been on the supplements.
