Well that's good news. I'm glad they didn't find anything major or tell you to wait to ttc again. I wish you lots of luck and baby dust!!
Thanks! You guys are soo supportive.
The appointment went very well. The doctor was encouraging and I learned a lot.
Both of my m/c's were early. He also said that at 4 1/2 weeks they basically view it like a negative pregnancy tests if the pregnancy doesn't progress normally. It's not very alarming and basically just a chemical pregnancy. A whopping 75% of all fertilized eggs are abnormal with no chance of success, thus the high rate of m/c. Only 25% of fertilized eggs will result in a healthy pregnancy. If you carry the baby long enough to detect heart rate on ultra sound and then miscarry, then they are a little more concerned and would probably treat it more aggresively.
My hemoglobin and ultra sound were normal. They want me to try Prometrium first (progesterone) He said it's very common for women to need progesterone during pregnancy and is the least invasive step. The way he explained it the Prometrium will "fluff" of my uterus to make a healthier environment for the egg to implant. I'm supposed to start taking it day 20 of my cycle and continue if I become pregnant for 9-12 weeks. If I do not become pregnant I would stop the prometrium until day 20 of the next cycle. It can act as a contraceptive if you take it every day.
He did an ultrasound and found that I have a low egg count. I only have one ovary and tube so he said that could cause a little problem since my body doesn't produce the same amount of eggs as someone with 2 ovaries. Normally each ovary should produce 8 eggs per cycle. Apparently I'm about to ovulate, according to my ultra sound, and I only had 4 eggs that he could count.
But for now I''m supposed to try Prometrium for 3 months. If this does not work they will move on to some other testing that includes the test that checks my tubes, a thyroid test, and a clomid challenge test.
I'll keep you posted on my visits. As I learn more I'll try to share
Good luck! I hope it's something simple!
